Now it's easy to build information integration flows in a matter of hours in Kapow Design Studio and publish them as accessible web apps called Kapow Kapplets™, all with no coding. This enables an organization to put the ability to discover, view and explore information directly into the hands of business users.
Distributed via an enterprise library, called Kapow KappZone™, Kapplets quickly deliver timely and valuable information in easily consumable formats from a wide variety of sources – databases, documents, file and email systems, web applications and on-premise or cloud applications. Kapplets enable users to search and monitor information sources, automate manual processes and explore and discover data trends that support agile decision-making.
For example, the Kapplet shown collects data from several online retailers. Pricing managers can use the data to compare competing prices by product SKU or model number.
The Kapplet can be configured to present multiple data sets such as thumbnails, product descriptions, prices, number of reviews and average ratings. Results are rendered in richly visual pages. Data sets can be presented in tables, graphs or a combination, enabling users to quickly grasp the information and discover trends, anomalies and correlations.
Users can explore data by sorting and filtering data results. Graphs and tables in a Kapplet page are coupled. If filtering is done in the table, the graph will update to show only the data that meets the filter criteria. Likewise, if a part of the graph is selected, the table will update accordingly to show the selected data. Sorting by order or value per data column enables users to extract more granular insights.
Users can take action on results by selecting one or multiple rows of data as input for an action executed by another integration flow, such as writing data to a downstream system. For example, the Kapplet shown below presents a table with sales leads collected from various external sources. The Kapplet user can select one, multiple or all of the rows and submit them to Saleforce.com to create a new lead record. Once submitted, the Kapplet will present back the URL of the new Salesforce.com lead record per each row.
Kapplets can be customized by business users for specific needs. Users can select Kapplets to be installed in their personal Kapplets workspace, called My KappZone. Kapplets that are frequently used can be stored in the My Favorites tab for quick and easy access.
Users run Kapplets by providing input parameters. Kapplets support built-in input validation to help users enter values correctly and avoid errors. A browse button also enables binary input values, making it easy to use files, such as Excel spreadsheets, as input for Kapplets.
Users can run Kapplets multiple times, each time with the same or different input parameters. Historic results are saved within the Kapplets and users can go back to old information at any time.
Kapplets can be scheduled to run in real time or at a specified time. Notifications can be set up and alerts are sent via e-mail or SMS once results are available.
Kapplets can be composed to run multiple integration flows in parallel for faster delivery of information to the business user. With Kapplets, information integration is no longer locked within the IT department. It is now extended to business decision makers, empowering them to get the data they need to do their job when and where they need it.
